Did your parents tell you, "Well, at least you don't have X," or "X has it worse?" Because mine did, and for an embarrassing amount of time, I invalidated my own feelings about things just like how you described doing the same to yourself. Your feelings are valid regardless of anything else, and I wish more people would be open about a shitty mood. We all have them, but don't really talk about them. I appreciate your vulnerability!
It definitely wasn't my parents, but it was my overall community and social messaging...But I still find it hard to defeat, and oddly enough, if a friend comes to me with any issue—small or large—I treat it like it's the greatest problem on Earth, meaning I am respectful and I understand exactly what you just told me. SO THANK YOU!!! :) I definitely needed that.
***Pats on your back ***
And I like how you didn’t try and fill us with advice on how to feel better or what to do differently- you just admitted it and went on.
thanks!!
And who among us hasn't been there, sometimes several times a day!
A well-articulated Debbie downer rant is why I come here. Fair enough, eh.
