My daughter is at that 'fun' age of watching educational kids' shows. Her current favorite is a YouTube millionaire who doesn't need my help, so I won't give her a plug. But, I will hand it to Ms. Rachel, she teaches good life skills.
That's why even though I don’t like her outfits, muppets, or relentless enthusiasm, I let my kid watch her. That, and the fact that my precious angel will stay quiet for up to an hour as this woman explains things like, "How to ask a grown up for help."
And between you and me, I'm a little jealous of my princess. Because I remember how it felt to believe in grown-ups, pots of gold, and other carrot ropes. I too once thought there were wise, justice-minded, altruistic humans enforcing goodness.
